Our towns are buzzing back to life…and it’s awesome.
I love seeing all the people up here in the Northwoods.
The roads. The stores. The lakes. They’re all full.
These visitors are in their happy place. And when they’re happy, we’re all happy.
It doesn’t matter what’s going on in the world, when you’re living in a vacation destination, you see joy every day.
You don’t know – or care – about their views, or political affiliations. All you know is that these folks are having fun.
You can do so much in the Northwoods.
In the midst of all the noise, there’s always thousands of our beautiful little quiet lakes. Sometimes, you just wanna get away from it all in a kayak or canoe and paddle to the middle of nowhere. Just you, lily pads, marsh flowers, and the whippoorwill.
Head back to the lake in the evening to do a little fishing. There are so many fish swimmin’ around, you’d think you were dropping a line in an aquarium.
Step into any shop and ask any questions. Even on their busiest day, the folks around these parts will happily point you in the right direction to help you with what you need and where you need to go.
It’s a busy time. And the onslaught of vacationers can get a little crazy at times.
But watching the show from my front row seat, I’m reminded that, no matter how much chaos is swirling around us, God still is in control.
I believe that God is in the midst of everything and everybody. Even those people who don’t think the same way as you or do things that we would never consider doing. They’re all part of the Father’s master plan.
Maybe that’s why God created the Northwoods. Because, for one bright shining moment every summer, all these folks come right here to get away, to take a break, to reconnect, and to have fun.
I hope you can enjoy this time while we’ve got it. And let us never take for granted that we get to live here in Vacationland year-round.
